Oper Credits BV, a European Fintech, is seeking an AI Solutions Engineer to join the AI Squad in Antwerp. You will scope and build AI prototypes (LLMs, RAG, agentic automation), run client workshops, and translate requirements into shipped features.

The role blends AI engineering, product management, and solutions architecture in a hybrid setup. You will own delivery end-to-end, collaborate across teams, and engage with regulated banks to pressure-test workflows.

Qualifications

• 4 to 6 years of software development experience with hands-on AI/LLM work.
• Strong Python and modern AI tooling skills (LLMs, RAG, agent frameworks, orchestration, evaluation).
• Ability to structure projects functionally and own delivery end-to-end, from scoping to shipped feature.
• Comfortable client-facing role: run workshops, gather requirements, translate ambiguity into working software.
• Genuinely AI-native: agents write code and you build agentic workflows to multiply output.
• Excellent communication skills and a creative, analytical mindset.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Experience in financial services or scale-up environments is a plus.

About Oper

Oper, a European Fintech company, is a leader in cloud-based digital mortgage software. We provide personalized journeys for borrowers and lenders. Oper's technology streamlines the mortgage application process, eliminates paperwork, and increases transparency.

The fastest growing part of our business is Herman, our AI agent for mortgage origination. Herman reads documents, checks them, and works a credit file the way an analyst would, inside the regulated workflow of a real bank. It runs on sovereign EU infrastructure, because our clients cannot send mortgage data anywhere else. Phase by phase, it automates more of the origination process: first employed borrowers, then the self-employed, and onward. This is not a chatbot bolted onto old software. It is agentic software doing real work in a regulated environment.

A passionate and engaging team of around 30 stellar Fintech operators works vigorously to transform European mortgages by enhancing efficiency and alleviating borrower anxiety. Backed by Bessemer Venture Partners and Motive Ventures, we have raised EUR 14 million, placing Oper at the forefront of revolutionizing mortgages in Europe. Oper currently has offices in Zürich, Switzerland, and Antwerp, Belgium.

Now, we're looking for an AI Solutions Engineer to join our AI Squad and help shape the future of automated mortgages in Europe and beyond.

Your Mission

You'll join the AI Squad, the team building Herman. This is a hands-on, hybrid role spanning AI engineering, product management, and solutions architecture. You'll scope and build working AI prototypes, take them in front of real banks to pressure-test against live mortgage workflows, and work alongside the team to turn these into working Herman features. You own delivery end-to-end: from a rough use case to a shipped capability, communicating progress clearly the whole way. This is an applied role, not a research one. We want a builder who can both code and collaborate, who is comfortable in front of a client in the morning and deep in a codebase in the afternoon.

Tasks

What you'll do

• Scope and build working AI prototypes - LLMs, RAG, agentic automation, and integrations - that solve concrete origination problems.
• Engage directly with clients: run workshops, gather requirements, demo, and iteratively refine solutions against the real workflows of regulated banks.
• Define and manage AI use cases, structuring them functionally so they can scale beyond a single client.
• Work closely within your team to turn validated prototypes into production features.
• Own delivery timelines and communicate progress clearly to both clients and internal stakeholders.

Work AI-native

Building agentic software is the job, and we expect you to build the way you ship: AI-first.

• Write code AI-first: agents produce the bulk of your code under your direction, while you own the architecture, integrations, review, and quality. We measure your output in shipped value, not hand-typed lines.
• Build agentic workflows that do real work: scaffolding prototypes and integrations from a spec, generating and running tests, drafting evaluation harnesses, and reviewing diffs.
• Use modern AI tooling as the default way you build, configure, and debug, not as an occasional helper.
• Aim for a delivery cadence a non-AI-native engineer simply cannot match, and help us raise the bar on what an AI-native delivery function looks like at Oper.

Requirements

What you'll bring

• 4 to 6 years of experience in software development, with hands-on AI/LLM work.
• Strong with Python and modern AI tooling: LLMs, RAG, agent frameworks, orchestration, and evaluation.
• Able to structure projects functionally and own delivery end-to-end, from scoping to shipped feature.
• Comfortable being client-facing: running workshops, gathering requirements, and translating ambiguity into working software.
• Comfortable working with flexible and loosely defined requirements, bringing your own structure where needed.
• Genuinely AI-native: agents already write most of your code and you build agentic workflows to multiply your output. You can name the tools, the workflows, and the concrete recent projects where AI gave you real leverage.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Creative and analytical mindset.
• Ambition to learn, experiment, and grow while staying humble and open-minded.
• Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g. Dutch, German) are a plus.
• Experience in a relevant industry (financial services) and thriving in a scale-up environment are a plus.

This is an applied, client-facing, cross-functional role. We are not looking for researchers, "idea people," or internal-only engineers.

• Belgium-based candidates: hybrid setup with 2 to 3 days per week in our Antwerp office
