Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland seeks a Female Youth Worker to support young women aged 16–21 who are homeless or at risk, in Townsville. The role involves overnight shifts within a residential shelter and community-based activities, offering life-skills training and housing support.

This casual, on-call position requires prior experience with disadvantaged youth, a Blue Card, a valid Driver’s Licence and Senior First Aid/CPR. Salary packaging and not-for-profit benefits apply.

Qualifications

  • Residential care experience is highly regarded.
  • Female applicant required due to occupational requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to young women aged 16–21 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

  • Be available for overnight shifts Monday to Thursday, including public holidays.

You will also provide practical support and life skills education to assist young women in moving towards independence, gaining employment, and securing stable and affordable housing.We pride ourselves on fostering a nurturing, calm, and holistic environment where young women can rest, reset, and heal from past trauma in a safe and supportive setting.Experience working with disadvantaged youth is essential, with residential care experience highly regarded.Applicants must be available to work overnight shifts Monday to Thursday, including public holidays.Typical shifts are:5:00 pm to 10:00 pm (sleepover shift)6:00 am to 9:00 amDue to the inherent requirements of this program's service delivery, we require female representation in this role.
