Job summary

Anglicare Central Queensland is seeking casual Outreach Support Workers to provide respite to carers by taking planned outings with young people; shifts may be in the afternoon or on weekends, with additional opportunities in Residential Care homes.

You will support youth to develop life skills, maintain connections to family and culture, and participate in activities aligned with care plans. Certification and experience with children and youth services are required.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention/Community Services or equivalent; proof of enrolment required.
• At least 1 year relevant experience working with young people in out-of-home care or similar field.
• Alternative qualifications: Mental Health, Community Services, Youth Work certificates or related diplomas.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned outings with young people to develop life skills.
• Support connections to family, culture, country and community.
• Promote safety, health and wellbeing measures for young people.
• Facilitate social, recreational, educational and health activities per individual care plans.
• Assist young people in accessing appointments and transport.
• Engage therapeutically with young people.
