Job summary

Queensland Government seeks a Youth Worker to supervise and support young people under youth justice intervention. The role reports to the Program Coordinator/Team Coordinator and involves delivering core programs and coordinating with caseworkers to implement service response plans.

Youth Workers will engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, liaise with government and community partners, and maintain case records while upholding safety and legislative requirements.

Qualifications

• Resume detailing your previous work or voluntary experience including two referees who have a thorough knowledge of your conduct and performance over the past 2 years, or an appropriate period.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate cultural capability and a commitment to cultural capability to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Deliver components of core programs, working alone or in teams to support the Service Response Plan.
• Provide supervision and support to young people ensuring high-quality service in line with laws, delegations and policies.
• Consult with stakeholders to design and improve access to services for young people as per their service response plan.
• Provide supervision and culturally appropriate support to assist with bail compliance and reintegration into the community.
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve quality casework outcomes.
• Develop and maintain knowledge relevant to the role and participate in learning and development.
• Prepare and maintain accessible case records and attend meetings as required.
• Assist in developing weekly rosters for supervised orders and bail programs per the service response plan.
• Conduct regular audits of service delivery sites and equipment for safety.
• Participate in training to deliver services in line with best practice.
• Demonstrate cultural capability and a commitment to inclusivity.
