Job description

This is a Fixed Term Part Time position at 45.6 hours per fortnight until 30/09/2026, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Position Profile

An opportunity is available for a Youth Counsellor to join the team in Geraldton. The Youth Counsellor is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining early intervention mental health programs for young people experiencing psychological, emotional, and behavioural challenges. The role focuses on reducing the risk of more serious mental health conditions and involves building strong referral networks with primary healthcare providers, youth services, and specialist mental health organisations.

Eligibility to Apply

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).

WA Health requires applicants to undertake a criminal records screening, integrity checking and, if required, a working with children check as part of the appointment process. Applicants will also be required to complete a satisfactory Pre-Employment Health Assessment (PEHA) as a condition of employment. Any unsatisfactory PEHA will result in the offer of employment being withdrawn. A WA Working With Children (WWC) Check is also mandatory for this role.
