Job summary

PremiAir operates a busy Newcastle (Thornton) depot needing a dedicated Yard Person to prep equipment for hire, coordinate assets, and maintain yard and storage areas. Duties include washing gear, processing returns, refuelling when needed, and assisting with servicing.

Candidate must have forklift licence and White Card; MR/HR licence is a plus. Must be reliable, safety-focused, able to work overtime and weekends, and capable of heavy lifting.

Qualifications

• Must have a forklift licence and White Card.
• MR or HR licence preferred but not essential.
• Excellent driving record and safety focus; experience delivering and towing trailers/equipment.

Responsibilities

• Wash returned equipment and prepare for hire.
• Process equipment returns and record off-hire information (refuel, hours used, damages).
• Refuel returned from hire and log on fuel log.
• Assist workshop staff with servicing and repairs.
• Keep yard clean and organise equipment.
• Available for rotating after-hours, on-call roster.
• Ute deliveries and collection of rental equipment as required.

About the Role

PremiAir has a permanent full-time position available for a hardworking and reliable Yard Person to join our busy team in our Newcastle (Thornton) depot.

Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the main responsibility of the role is to prepare equipment ready for hire, coordinate assets through process and maintain the yard and storage areas. Deliver/collect of equipment as required.

Duties

• Washing of returned equipment preparation ready for hire
• Processing of equipment returns and assist with gathering and recording off hires information (refuel / hours used/damages etc)
• Ensure returned from hire are refueled (if required) and entered on fuel log.
• Assisting workshop staff with servicing and repairs
• Keeping the yard clean and arranging equipment as needed
• Must be available to work on a rotating after-hours, on-call roster
• Ute deliveries and collection of rental equipmentas required.

Skills and Experience

You must possess a strong sense of urgency with an "I will make it happen" attitude to get the job done. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• A valid Forklift licence and White Card is required
• MR or HR license is preferred but not essential to be considered for this position
• Excellent driving record and safety focused and has previous experience making deliveries and towing/reversing trailers or equipment
• Able to follow instructions and work unsupervised and pays attention to detail
• Is self-motivated and takes pride in their work and has a great work ethic
• Is reliable and punctual and has excellent work ethics
• Is focused on providing the best service to our customers
• Is capable of performing physical activities
• Can work overtime, including weekends when needed

Previous experience and success in a similar role will be highly regarded, however, the successful applicants will be appointed primarily based on attitude and the desire to assist the business in the next phase of growth.
