Job summary

Emerald Air Starters and Equipment (EASE) is seeking a committed and reliable full-time Workshop Trades Assistant to support our experienced team in a hands-on workshop environment in Emerald, QLD. The role offers a clear path to a Fitting/Turning Apprenticeship after a successful 6-month probation.

You will help with workshop tasks, equipment overhauls, and servicing while learning practical skills and adhering to safety and quality standards. A forklift licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified tradespeople with workshop tasks and maintenance work.
  • Overhauls of large equipment for underground mining.
  • Servicing and maintaining air operated equipment.
  • Assist with fabrication work as required.
  • Support the workshop team with repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
  • Record servicing information and relevant documentation.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and develop practical skills.

Workshop Trades Assistant / Apprentice Fitter

Specialising in the sales and service of pneumatic equipment and stocking a wide range of consumables, Emerald Air Starters and Equipment (EASE) have been a local name for over 37 years.

We are seeking a committed and reliable full time Trades Assistant to work alongside our experienced Workshop Tradespersons. This role will allow opportunities to develop and hone your skills in a hands-on workshop environment with the intention to enter into a full time Fitting / Turning Apprenticeship upon successful completion of your 6 month probation period.


You will play a vital role, contributing directly to the quality of work delivered to our clients and the overall success of the business.


Key Responsibilities


  • Assist qualified tradespeople with workshop tasks and maintenance work, including:

  • Overhauls of large equipment for the underground mining industry

  • Servicing and maintaining air operated equipment

  • Assisting with fabrication work as required

  • Supporting the workshop team with repairs and maintenance to a range of equipment

  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment

  • Recording of servicing information, photographs and other documentation relevant to the job

  • A willingness to learn and develop practical skills in a trades environment

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining standards of safety and quality

  • Strong work ethic and reliability, with the ability to work as part of a team

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills


Current HRW Forklift Licence is desirable, but not essential
