The Role

We are seeking a Workshop Manager to join our management team in Cairns. This position is responsible for day-to-day management of our Workshop, the coordination of resources and liaising with stakeholders to ensure work is delivered on time and to a quality standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage job allocation and job flow process including scheduling and labour allocation in servicing, repair and maintenance of vehicles and plant machinery
  • Manage and oversee staff productivity and output to ensure daily, weekly and monthly tasks are completed effectively and on time
  • Order and track parts and consumables whilst maintaining cost effective job costing
  • Identify and implement improvements in processes, procedures or systems
  • Mentoring and training apprentices/tradespersons to raise the bar of work performed
  • Conduct Daily Prestart, undertake HSEQ Inspections, and deliver Toolbox Talks.
  • Quality control of services and repairs across the workshop
  • Ensure all documentation for workshop activities is recorded and stored effectively
  • Deliver on all safety requirements as per industry standards.
Requirements
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Diesel Fitter
  • 3+ years’ experience in a Leading Hand or management position
  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent
  • Proficient in management of servicing and repairs
  • Strong leadership capability
  • Willing to visit remote construction sites to complete jobs when required.
  • Sound knowledge of a variety of different earthmoving machinery
  • Great work ethic and ability to positively influence work culture.
  • Ability to implement SWMS and champion the utilisation of correct PPE.
