Upper Hunter Shire Council is seeking an experienced Works Engineer to deliver vital infrastructure and services across the Merriwa area. You will plan, manage and deliver construction and maintenance programs, coordinating roads, bridges, drainage, parks and facilities with contractors while ensuring safety and budget adherence.
You will work closely with Transport for NSW, support RMCC compliance, and contribute to grant funding submissions and capital works planning.
Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Works Engineer to help deliver vital infrastructure and services across the Merriwa area. This is a diverse and rewarding role where you will play a key part in planning, managing and delivering Council’s construction and maintenance programs that support our communities.
Working within the Works Delivery team, you will oversee Council’s construction and maintenance activities across roads, bridges, footpaths, drainage, parks and facilities, as well as supporting the management of Council’s quarries. You will provide technical guidance, coordinate resources and contractors, and ensure projects and maintenance works are delivered safely, efficiently, within budget and to a high standard.
The role also provides an opportunity to work closely with Transport for NSW, including supporting Council’s compliance under the Roads Maintenance Council Contract (RMCC), as well as contributing to grant funding submissions, capital works programs and strategic infrastructure planning.
This is a great opportunity to contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects while enjoying the lifestyle of the beautiful Upper Hunter region and being part of a supportive and dedicated Council team.
You are an experienced and practical engineering professional who enjoys working collaboratively to deliver high-quality infrastructure and services for the community. You thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same – coordinating works, managing contractors, supporting operational teams, solving problems and ensuring projects and maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently and within budget.
With a strong understanding of civil construction and maintenance operations, you provide technical guidance and leadership across roads, drainage, parks, facilities and other infrastructure. You lead by example, promote safe work practices, and take pride in delivering outcomes that enhance community infrastructure and public spaces.
