Job summary

The Toro Company is seeking an experienced and proactive Workplace Health & Safety Officer to lead and coordinate national WHS&E programs. This role focuses on driving a positive safety culture, ensuring legislative compliance, and supporting operational excellence across multiple sites.

You will implement effective safety systems, deliver training, manage investigations, and promote continual safety improvements, collaborating with leaders and employees across the business.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety or a related discipline.
• Solid knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience implementing and maintaining workplace safety programs and systems.
• Strong organisational, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills and confidence using digital systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain WHS policies, procedures, and programs across multiple sites.
• Provide expert advice to managers and employees on WHS matters.
• Coordinate site safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
• Lead incident and hazard investigations, reporting, corrective actions, and prevention.
• Develop risk assessments, SOPs, safety alerts, and WHS documentation.
• Manage WHS records and documentation in line with legislation and company policy.
• Coordinate workplace safety training programs (emergency wardens, first aiders, WHS committee members).
• Support safety committees and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
• Act as a key contact for WHS&E matters with regulators and external stakeholders.
• Maintain ownership of safety management systems and software.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Workplace Health & Safety Officer to lead and coordinate our national Work Health, Safety and Environmental (WHS&E) programs. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate safety professional to drive a positive safety culture, ensure legislative compliance, and support operational excellence across multiple sites.

As the WHS Officer, you will work closely with leaders and employees across the business to implement effective safety systems, deliver training programs, manage incident investigations, and promote continuous improvement in workplace health, safety, and environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Develop, implement, and maintain WHS&E policies, procedures, and programs aligned with legislative requirements, Australian Standards, and best practice.

• Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on workplace health and safety matters.

• Coordinate and conduct site safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across multiple locations.

• Lead incident and hazard management processes, including investigations, reporting, corrective actions, and preventative measures.

• Develop risk assessments, Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety alerts, and other WHS documentation.

• Manage WHS records and documentation in accordance with legislative and company requirements.

• Coordinate workplace safety training programs, including emergency wardens, first aiders, and WHS committee members.

• Support safety committees and drive continuous improvement initiatives

• across the business.

• Act as a key contact for WHS&E matters, including liaising with regulators and external stakeholders when required.

• Maintain ownership and administration of company safety management systems and software.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety or a related discipline, or a willingness to undertake further study.

• Sound knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, standards, and compliance requirements.

• Experience implementing and maintaining workplace safety programs and systems.

• Strong organisational, planning, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Advanced Microsoft Office skills and confidence using digital systems and databases.

• The ability to build effective relationships and influence positive safety outcomes across all levels of the organisation.

• High levels of professionalism, discretion, and integrity when handling confidential information.

Requirements

• Current Driver’s Licence.

• Advanced First Aid Certificate.

• Mental Health First Aid Certificate.

• Willingness to travel interstate as required.

• Availability to work outside standard business hours when required.
