Job summary

Motion Group Pty Ltd seeks an experienced Service & Repairs Supervisor in Rutherford to lead our workshop, manage the Service & Repairs Department, and ensure safe, efficient delivery of crane maintenance and repair work. This hands-on role combines supervision, scheduling, quoting, and team development with solid customer communication.

You will report to the Workshop Manager and collaborate with production, procurement and administration to meet deadlines and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent
  • Experience in fixed or mobile plant maintenance, preferably cranes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
  • Strong problem solving and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork
  • Experience supervising workshop personnel
  • Ensure safety and quality compliance

Based in Rutherford, we are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Service & Repairs Supervisor to lead our workshop operations and service team. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a growing business where you can make a genuine impact while building a long‑term career.

About the Role:

Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of our Service & Repairs Department, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the high standards our customers expect.

This is a hands‑on leadership role that combines workshop management, customer interaction, scheduling, quoting and team development. You will work closely with production, procurement and administration teams to ensure jobs are delivered on time and to budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the Service & Repairs Department.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring clear communication, professional service and timely follow‑up
  • Schedule and coordinate workshop workloads and resources.
  • Supervise, mentor and support workshop personnel.
  • Allocate work and monitor productivity across the department.
  • Prepare quotations for repairs, modifications and service work.
  • Liaise with customers regarding repairs, timelines and job progress.
Skills & experience:
  • Mechanic with Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent
  • Proven experience with fixed or mobile plant mechanical maintenance and repair, preferably on cranes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Effective Supervision, mentorship and support of workshop personnel.
  • Monitor job quality and conduct final inspections.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, procurement and administration teams.
  • Ensure workshop activities comply with company safety and quality requirements.
  • Assist with technical problem‑solving and workshop support where required.
  • Have active involvement in day‑to‑day maintenance and repair work
  • Monitor department performance and assist with future growth planning.

You are a practical leader who enjoys building strong teams, solving problems and delivering quality outcomes for customers.

You will bring:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory, leading hand or management role.
  • Experience within heavy vehicle repairs, slew cranes, mobile cranes and franna cranes, trucks and trailers and light vehicles
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.Commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced workshop/yard environment.
Highly Regarded
  • Fault finding and diagnostic experience
  • Auto electrical experience
  • Knowledge of trailer componentry and transport equipment.
