Job summary

AGL's Renewables team is seeking a Wind Service Technician to ensure safe, efficient operation of wind farms across South Australia and Victoria. Based at the Wattle Point Wind Farm near Edithburgh, you'll perform routine and breakdown maintenance, monitor assets, and input data into SAP.

This hands-on role requires mechanical or electrical trade qualifications, HV certification preferred, and the ability to work at heights.

Qualifications

• Electrical or Mechanical Trade qualification is required.
• HV certification is preferred.
• Experience with HV/LV systems, hydraulics, and mechanical systems in industrial settings.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and breakdown maintenance, servicing, inspection, and monitoring of wind farm assets.
• Prepare work records and reports, including input into SAP.
• Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) systems and AGL safety standards.
• Receive Access Authorities and progress to Recipient In Charge (RIC) if required.
• Supervise contractors and service providers to ensure safe and high‑quality work.
• Provide on‑the‑job training and mentoring to maintain high skill and safety standards.

About the role

AGL’s Renewables team are looking for a Wind Service Technician to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our wind farms across South Australia and Victoria.

Based at the Wattle Point Wind Farm , located 3 kilometres southwest of Edithburgh on the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia, which is less than a 3-hour drive from Adelaide. This site has been operational since 2005 and generates enough renewable energy to power about 50,000 average Australian homes.

This is a hands‑on technical role focused on maintaining and servicing wind farm assets to ensure reliability, safety, and optimal performance.

What you will be doing

• Perform routine and breakdown maintenance, servicing, inspection, and monitoring of wind farm assets


• Prepare work records and reports, including input into SAP


• Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) systems and AGL’s safety standards


• Conduct Hazard Risk Analysis and Job Safety Analysis as required


• Ensure compliance with Safe Access Rules and participate in toolbox and safety meetings


• Receive Access Authorities and progress to Recipient In Charge (RIC) if required


• Supervise contractors and service providers to ensure safe and high‑quality work


• Provide and receive on‑job training, mentoring team members to maintain high skill and safety standards


• Demonstrate AGL values by collaborating across the business and contributing to overall success

What you will bring

You’re a skilled technician with a strong mechanical or electrical background, passionate about renewable energy and safety.

• Electrical (Preferred) OR Mechanical Trade qualification (with a “disconnect reconnect” licence preferred but not required).


• HV certification (preferred)


• Experience with HV/LV systems, hydraulics, and mechanical systems in industrial, commercial, or residential environments


• Understanding of wind farm operations and maintenance for safe, efficient performance


• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration


• Self‑motivated with excellent time management and ability to work independently and in a team


• Valid Victorian or South Australian driver’s license (depending on asset location)


• Willingness to work at heights and in confined spaces


• Additional desirable qualifications: GWO training, working at heights, manual handling, HV/LV rescue, fire awareness, first aid
