Job summary

Webber, a Ferrovial company, in Sydney, NSW, seeks a Loader Operator for heavy civil works. You will operate a rubber-tired machine with backhoe and loader buckets to excavate ditches, lay pipe, and move materials on site.

You will follow safety procedures, coordinate with truck drivers, perform routine machine maintenance, and help other crew members. The role requires heavy physical work outdoors and is based at our Sydney operations. Training and on-site supervision provided.

Qualifications

• Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.)
• Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

Responsibilities

• Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate machines.
• Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate loading of dirt, rocks, and other materials.
• Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
• May oil, grease, or otherwise service the machine.
• Make necessary adjustment to equipment as needed.

Job Description:

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Operates a rubber-tired machine mounted with a backhoe bucket on one end and a loader bucket on the other end. Used for excavating ditches and structures, laying pipe and precast concrete structures, carrying material in the loader bucket, and general excavation and backfill. May also be equipped with hydraulic attachments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
