The Department of Education is seeking a multi-talented and engaging online specialist to join our Digital Presence team as a Web Officer.

You will work closely with schools to enhance their web presence, achieve their web content goals and reach their target audience.

About the role

As a Web Officer, you will play a key role in supporting schools to create and maintain high‑quality, accessible, and user‑friendly web content.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide support and advice to Queensland State Schools on web publishing principles and processes.
  • Liaise with schools to ensure web content complies with government accessibility standards, is well structured, accurate and styled, and adheres to the department's web publishing guidelines.
  • Provide advice and guidance regarding elements such as content best practice, information architecture, content creation, usability and accessibility.
  • Develop support material to help schools to publish web content.
  • Build positive relationships with internal and external clients to ensure quality outcomes.
About you

To excel in this role, it would be highly desirable to possess the following skills and experience:

  • A background in web content, and a good understanding of HTML.
  • Experience with content management, content management systems, and web governance.
  • Ability to ensure web content meets industry standards and guidelines relating to best practice.
  • Experience with SharePoint (on‑prem) and SharePoint Online.
  • Excellent organisational skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow multiple processes.
