What's the role?

News24, recently rebranded from Sky News Australia, is owned by News Corp Australia. Are you ready to be part of Australia’s only 24/7 Weather Channel?

At News24, we are committed to delivering fast, accurate, and compelling coverage of the events that matter most to our audience. Based in our dynamic Surry Hills newsroom, our team operates at the cutting edge of breaking news, Australian politics, and global affairs.

We are looking for a producer with a passion for weather who thrives under pressure with excellent attention to detail. The producer will write, cut, and edit weather content to be included in our on-air bulletins. In this role, you will work in partnership with meteorologists, weather presenters, and technical studio crews to structure content and ensure its smooth on‑air delivery. You will play a vital part in ensuring that all content and material is technically sound and fully ready for broadcast.

About the role

  • Write, cut, and edit weather content in collaboration with meteorologists and weather presenters to deliver regular weather news segments.

  • Build graphics, cut overlay, and create templates for on‑air use.

  • Source vision and live feeds related to relevant weather content.

  • Supervise the live output of content from the control room.

  • Coordinate with studio crews for live and prerecorded bulletins.

  • Edit and send content blocks to transmission partners, including Mediahub.

  • Identify weather stories and material of interest to a national audience.

  • Review content partners including Nine, Fox News, AP, and Reuters to source weather content.

  • Complete and comply with all News Corp and ANC policies, including ANC’s Social Media Policy and News Corp Global Standards, while reporting any breaches to the relevant parties.

Who are you?

  • You hold qualifications in journalism or possess equivalent experience in a newsroom environment.

  • You have excellent writing and editing skills.

  • You have a genuine interest in the weather and in news.

  • You have the proven ability to work in a team to deliver daily content to a tight deadline.

  • You demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • You are calm under pressure and exercise sound editorial judgement.

  • You align with our core values: you are always curious, embrace innovation, operate with clarity to get things done, make an impact, lead with passion, and remain highly principled.
