Job summary

Yass Valley Council is seeking a Water & Wastewater Operator to operate, maintain and monitor the water treatment plant, pump stations, reservoirs and sewer reticulation assets as part of the multi‑million‑dollar upgrade.

This permanent full‑time role offers a 38‑hour week over a 9‑day fortnight, access to long service leave and paid annual leave, plus opportunities for training and nationally recognised qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Certificate Water Treatment Part 1 or equivalent preferred.
  • Certificate Wastewater Treatment Part 1 or equivalent preferred.
  • Willingness to obtain required certificates within 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain and monitor water treatment plant, pump stations, reservoirs and water reticulation assets.
  • Operate, maintain and monitor sewage treatment plants, sewage pump stations and sewer reticulation assets.
  • Participate in construction and repair of water and sewer assets.
  • Carry out water quality tests and record results accurately.
  • Assist with other tasks in Water and Wastewater Section.

Your Role
  • Operate, maintain and monitor the water treatment plant, pump stations, reservoirs and water reticulation assets.
  • Operate, maintain and monitor sewage treatment plants, sewage pump stations and sewer reticulation assets.
  • Participate in the construction and repair of water reticulation and sewer reticulation assets.
  • Carry out water quality tests and keep accurate records of results.
  • Assist with any other tasks related to the Water and Wastewater Section
About You
  • Certificate Chemical Dosing Systems for water supplies (Part 1) and/or Wastewater Treatment Operations for Sewerage Treatment Plants (Part 1) or the ability to obtain on of the above certificates within 12 months.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence.
  • Availability and capacity to undertake on-call duties.
  • A white card (general construction induction card).
  • A current Calss C driver licence.
