Job summary

Icon Water in Canberra is seeking a Water Industry Operator to operate, monitor and control plant and processes at our water and wastewater facilities in the ACT region. Under technical guidance, you will follow routines to ensure optimal operation and reporting.

The role requires a Certificate III in Water Operations or a related engineering qualification, experience with pumps, motors, compressors and electronic sensing devices, and a willingness to work a 24/7 shift roster including on-call

Qualifications

• Possesses a Certificate III in Water Operations or ability to work towards completing.
• Trade or Diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering from an Australian TAFE or equivalent.
• Experience operating, monitoring and controlling pumps, motors, air compressors or electronic sensing devices.
• Demonstrated ability to identify faulty equipment and report issues.
• Experience maintaining shift records/logs and handling emergencies.
• Competency with computerised monitoring systems used in Icon Water.
• Understanding of Icon Water policies and procedures.
• Willingness to work a continuous rotating shift roster and on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor plant and processes at the Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre.
• Inspect, sample and analyse processes; report performance and faults.
• Take action to ensure optimal equipment operation and effectiveness.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operation reports and logs.
• Contribute to safe work practices and hazard removal.
• Support testing and trials of processes and equipment.
• Participate in project tasks as required.
• Provide after-hours backup as part of a 24/7 roster.
