Job summary

A community support organization in Melbourne is seeking experienced Disability Support Workers for casual roles. Help at Hand Support Services is looking for experienced Disability Support Workers who would like to join us and help make a difference to the lives of people with a disability. You will provide a person-centred approach and your daily routine will depend on the person you are supporting. Every day could be different: you might assist a client to go out to the beach, to a movie or a game, or you might attend a medical appointment and keep them company at home with a cup of tea. This type of work is exciting and varied.

Responsibilities

• Provide a person-centred approach to support people with a disability.
• Assist clients with daily activities, outings, and community participation.
• Support clients during medical appointments and other health appointments.
• Keep clients company at home, providing companionship and support.

Qualifications

• Own fully insured and reliable vehicle.
• International police check (if applicable) or current police check (must be within 6 months from date of application).
• Cert III in Disability or above, or equivalent experience.
• Current Working with Children check.
• First aid/CPR certificates (current).
• Full and clean Australian driver’s licence.
• Be punctual, reliable and flexible.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Empathetic and proactive with a genuine interest to work in this field.
• Ability to self-supervise and remain calm and composed at times of crisis.
• Right to live and work in Australia.
