Amazon Web Services in Sydney is seeking a Logistics Specialist for Data Center Operations. You will manage the onsite parts room, control computer hardware custody through its lifecycle, receive and deliver parts to technicians, perform cycle counts, and coordinate with Data Centre Operations and Engineering to support reliable repairs.
The role requires travel between Sydney Metro sites, own transport, and occasional after-hours work.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Logistics specialists play a vital role in the success of Amazon Web Services by providing the right part, in the right place at the right time. Your contribution to this success would be maintaining the onsite parts room in AWS Data Centres, by managing the custody of computer hardware through their entire lifecycle. This involves receiving parts, safely storing parts, picking and delivering parts to hardware technicians, cycle counts, and shipping faulty hardware back to the vendor.
You will work closely with Data Centre Operations and Engineering teams to ensure reliable functioning and repair activities to support our customers, while adhering to our operational tenants of safety, security and availability.
A day in the life: In this hands‑on position, your day will be spent carrying out Logistical support functions for our Data Centres. This will involve physical control and processing of spare parts transactions, consumables stock replenishment, and cycle counting of stock.
The role will require some travel between sites in the Sydney Metro area to successfully complete tasks such as cycle counts, receiving stock, replenishing stock, and returning defective equipment. Own transport to travel between sites will be required. You may be required to go into the Data Center after hours and over weekends on some occasions.
