Job summary

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, patching and applying waterproofing or bonding materials as required.
• Measure, cut and shape ceramic, porcelain, stone, marble, glass and mosaic tiles to fit designated areas.
• Mix and apply adhesives, mortar and other fixing materials according to specifications.
• Lay and secure tiles on floors, walls, bathrooms, kitchens, showers, balconies and other designated areas.
• Install tiles around corners, edges, drains, pipes, fixtures and other obstacles.
• Maintain consistent spacing, alignment, levels and patterns throughout the installation.
• Apply grout and sealants to joints and finish edges for a neat, durable result.
• Inspect tiled surfaces for defects, unevenness, alignment and overall workmanship.
• Remove and replace damaged tiles and repair defective tiled surfaces as required.
• Calculate material quantities, minimise waste and maintain adequate supplies for each project.
• Clean and maintain tiling tools, equipment and work areas.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and comply with relevant construction and waterproofing requirements.

The successful candidate will need to undertake and possess:
