Job summary

Sure Projects Australia is seeking a qualified Floor and Wall Tiler to manage the full tiling sequence on residential, commercial and infrastructure projects in NSW. The role covers substrate prep, screeding, waterproofing and precise tiling on internal and external walls and floors to achieve durable, decorative finishes.

The candidate should have minimum 1 year tiling experience, knowledge of Australian Standards, ability to read plans and work as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in floor and wall tiling.
• Sound knowledge of tile installation and angle installation.
• Experience preparing substrates, applying screeds and setting falls to drainage.
• Experience waterproofing wet areas, caulking and sealing junctions and penetrations.
• Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards for tiling and waterproofing.
• Understanding of falls, drainage and wet-area compliance requirements.
• Ability to read and set out from building plans.
• Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality finishes.
• Must hold a current White Card.

Responsibilities

• Carry out the full sequence of tiling work from substrate preparation to final tiling.
• Set out tiles from building plans and plan layouts around penetrations and fittings.
• Prepare substrates, grind, clean and prime; remove old tiles and adhesive.
• Mix and apply screeds and mortar beds; set falls to drainage points.
• Apply waterproofing membranes to wet areas and ensure proper coverage.
• Caulk and seal junctions, joints and penetrations; maintain compliance checks.

The Role:

• Sure Projects Australia is looking for a qualified Floor and Wall Tiler with sound knowledge of tile and angle installation across wet and dry areas. The role covers the full sequence of the work: preparing substrates, applying screeds and setting falls to drainage, waterproofing wet areas, then laying ceramic, clay, slate, marble and glass tiles on internal and external walls and floors to provide protective and decorative finishes. Caulking, sealing and compliance checks against relevant Australian Standards are part of the day-to-day.
• Setting out tiles from building plans, establishing reference lines and planning layout around penetrations, pipes and fittings
• Preparing substrates by grinding, cleaning and priming, and removing old tiles, grout and adhesives both indoors and outdoors
• Mixing and applying sand-cement screeds and mortar beds, setting falls to drainage points and floor wastes
• Checking falls, levels and grading to ensure correct drainage and compliance
• Applying waterproofing membranes to wet areas, reinforcing at junctions and achieving coverage to the required heights
• Caulking and sealing junctions, movement joints, and penetrations
• Working in the correct sequence across preparation, screeding, waterproofing and tiling
• Laying and setting tiles in correct positions and applying suitable adhesives onto prepared surfaces
• Cutting and shaping tiles with the correct tools for specific jobs and surfaces
• Grouting once laid and removing excess grout, finishing to a high standard
• Carrying out compliance checks against relevant Australian Standards
• Autonomously carrying out planned work in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations

What we are looking for:
