Job summary

SBS in Sydney seeks a Video and Social Journalist/Producer to create and publish news content across SBS News digital video, social and third‑party platforms. You will work with the newsroom to deliver high‑quality journalism that informs, educates and engages audiences.

This full‑time role is based in Artarmon with hybrid work options (two days from home, three in the office). You will pitch, script, produce, edit and publish across platforms, contributing to timely, accurate storytelling.

Qualifications

• Degree in Journalism, Media or related discipline.
• At least two years' newsroom journalist and/or producer experience.
• Strong video editing skills including Adobe Premiere Pro or similar.
• Examples of original journalism.
• Experience publishing across major social platforms.
• Strong editorial judgement and ability to work in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Strong knowledge of national and international affairs.
• A passion for communicating news on social platforms.

Responsibilities

• Pitch, script, produce, edit and publish news video and social content across SBS News platforms.
• Adapt TV News packages and written articles for digital video and social audiences using platform-appropriate formats.
• Monitor audience trends, platform developments and performance data to inform content decisions.
• Collaborate with journalists, producers, editors, designers and digital teams on news coverage and content delivery.
• Support comment moderation, publishing workflows and editorial quality standards across digital platforms.
• May involve exposure to distressing or traumatic content with SBS providing support and wellbeing resources.
