Job summary

Contour Education is seeking enthusiastic tutors to lead Year 6–8 classes preparing Victorian Selective Entry exams across multiple campuses (Glen Waverley, Box Hill, Narre Warren, Point Cook, and new Epping campuses). You will teach Mathematics, English, or Writing in structured groups of 6–12 students.

You will coach study skills, provide essay and exam feedback, and mentor students by sharing your own experiences to build confidence and resilience.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Ability to coach study skills and exam strategies.
• Commitment to a full academic year with regular weekly hours.

Who we are

What you'll do

You will guide Year 6–8 students through structured preparation for Victorian Selective Entry exams :

• Teach – intuitively teach a full class of 6-12 students on your specialty stream - Mathematics, English, or Writing
• Coach – study skills and exam strategy, along with essay and exam marking
• Mentor – share your own experiences and form genuine connections
• Connect – build relationships that inspire students to keep going

For example, you might teach two classes on Monday and two on Tuesday (4:15–6:15pm and 6:45–8:45pm), plus two on Saturday morning (10:00am–12:00pm and 12:30–2:30pm).

What you'll bring

• Selective School Background: Attended a Victorian Selective Entry high school (Melbourne High School, Mac.Robertson Girls' High School, Nossal High School, or Suzanne Cory High School).
• Strong communication and a knack for making hard concepts click
• A 90+ ATAR and a 40+ study score in relevant subjects (highly desirable, not required)
• 6+ classes per week , committed across a full academic year (around 12+ hours weekly)
• Energy, empathy, and a desire to help students
• Alignment with Contour's mission (non-compete agreement required)

• The pay: classes run two hours. Tutors start at $90/class and reach $140+/class, plus super and bonuses. Most Tutors earn $130 to $220+/class including bonuses.
• You don't build the material: every class runs on a workbook our subject team writes, with homework, practice assessments and exams already built into our learning portal.
• Real (paid) training: qualification through Contour Tutor Academy, class sit-ins, regular check-ins with your team lead, and honest feedback on your tutoring.
