RSPCA NSW is excited to launch NSW's first High-Quality, High-Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN) Clinic in Condell Park, and we're looking for an enthusiastic Veterinarian to join our team on a six‑month contract!

This is a fantastic opportunity for a veterinarian to gain practical experience in a supportive, purpose‑built surgical environment, with a primary focus on cat and dog desexing procedures.

Our innovative clinic is dedicated to making desexing more affordable and accessible to local communities, helping to reduce unwanted litters and improve animal welfare outcomes.

With a goal of performing a high volume of desexing surgeries each day, you'll have the opportunity to refine your surgical techniques, build confidence and gain valuable hands‑on experience working alongside experienced veterinary nurses.

If you're eager to strengthen your surgical skills while making a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and their communities, we'd love to hear from you!

About the Role

You’ll play an important role in delivering safe, efficient and high-quality veterinary care, with a primary focus on routine desexing surgeries for cats and dogs.

Working in a collaborative and supportive clinical environment, you’ll have the opportunity to enhance your surgical and anaesthetic skills while contributing to an innovative program that supports animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Perform high-quality desexing surgeries for cats and dogs, maintaining excellent surgical and animal welfare standards.

  • Provide appropriate pre‑operative assessments, anaesthetic management and post‑operative care to ensure patient safety and wellbeing.

  • Oversee the daily veterinary care of surgical patients throughout their clinic visit.

  • Work collaboratively with experienced HQHVSN veterinary nurses to support efficient patient flow and safe clinical practices.

  • Develop and refine surgical techniques through hands‑on experience and collaboration with the veterinary team.

  • Maintain high standards of infection control, clinical record keeping and patient safety.

  • Contribute to a positive, professional and supportive team environment.

  • Support continuous improvement in clinic procedures, efficiency and animal welfare outcomes.

About You

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated veterinarian who is passionate about animal welfare, eager to develop their surgical skills and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor or Doctor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent qualification) and current registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW.

Experience:

  • A veterinarian with some experience in small animal general practice.

  • A keen interest in developing confidence and proficiency in routine cat and dog desexing procedures.

  • Foundational surgical and anaesthetic knowledge, with a strong commitment to patient safety and animal welfare.

  • An interest in learning high-quality, high-volume surgical techniques and efficient clinical workflows.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork and problem‑solving skills.

  • A willingness to learn, receive guidance and continuously develop your clinical skills.

  • A genuine passion for improving access to veterinary care and making a positive difference in the community.

  • Previous HQHVSN experience is not essential but highly recommended. We’re looking for someone with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in gaining valuable hands‑on experience in desexing procedures.

Why Join RSPCA NSW?

This is more than just a veterinary position, it’s an opportunity to develop your professional skills while contributing to an exciting new initiative that will make a lasting difference to animals and their communities.
