Job summary

BDO is seeking a Director to join our Melbourne Valuations team, delivering complex engagement leadership across ASX-listed and private clients. You will mentor colleagues, drive client relationships and contribute to strategic growth while managing multiple high-profile valuation assignments.

You will work closely with Partners and senior stakeholders to maintain technical excellence, foster business development, and lead a high-performing team in a dynamic professional services environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in business valuation, financial reporting valuations and transaction-related advisory services.
• Strong technical knowledge of valuation methodologies, accounting standards and valuation frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to manage senior client relationships and develop new business opportunities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and commercially.
• Proven leadership experience, including coaching and developing high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution and review of complex valuation engagements, including business valuations, intangible asset valuations, purchase price allocations, impairment testing, financial instrument valuations and independent expert support.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships with senior executives, boards, legal advisers, private equity investors and audit teams.
• Manage multiple engagements simultaneously, ensuring projects are delivered to a high technical standard, on time and within budget.
• Provide technical leadership and quality review of valuation reports, financial models and client deliverables.
• Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation, networking, presentations and identifying opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
• Support the development of the Valuations practice through market initiatives, thought leadership and strategic growth opportunities.
• Mentor, coach and develop managers, senior analysts and analysts, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
• Maintain a strong understanding of relevant valuation standards, accounting requirements and market developments.
