Job description

The Position

As a UX Designer at Nexigen Digital, you will be embedded within our software engineering team at a pivotal moment in our story. We’re transitioning into a true product company, and that means rethinking how our customers experience us from the ground up.

This is a role for someone who isn’t satisfied with making things merely look nice. We want someone who digs into the “why” - who wants to understand how customers think, where they get stuck, and what a genuinely unified experience should feel like - and then backs those instincts with real evidence. You’ll own our user research end to end, and your decisions will be grounded in what users actually do, not just what we assume they want.

We know first hand that brilliant designers come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We pride ourselves on maintaining a team culture built on collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning and development, and we’re able to provide opportunities to a range of designers with different skillsets and experience.

An average day may include any or all of the following tasks:

  • Designing and iterating on our new unified customer control panel, mapping out how customers move between products and management tasks
  • Translating a fragmented, product-by-product management flow into a single cohesive experience for our new shared hosting platform
  • Owning, planning and coordinating our user testing program - recruiting participants, running sessions and turning what you learn into action
  • Conducting user interviews and synthesising both qualitative insights and quantitative data into clear, well-reasoned recommendations
  • Building wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs in Figma and UXPin, then collaborating closely with engineers and product managers to bring them to life
  • Working with PostHog and Google Analytics to understand customer behaviour, validate design decisions and measure whether changes actually moved the needle
  • Collaborating with software engineers to ensure your designs are practical, build-ready and faithfully implemented
  • Learning something new
The right person (is it you?)
  • Has demonstrable experience in UX design, ideally for web applications, dashboards, or customer-facing platforms (we’ll take personal & self taught experience into consideration as well)
  • Is genuinely curious about how and why people behave the way they do, and treats every design decision as a problem to be understood rather than a guess to be made
  • Is confident owning user research independently - planning and running usability testing, conducting interviews, and performing detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Can turn research findings into clear, evidence-based design decisions and articulate the reasoning behind them
  • Is highly proficient with design and prototyping tools, particularly Figma and UXPin
  • Has a solid understanding of website and app design principles, including the fundamentals of HTML and CSS, and can speak the same language as engineers (no hands-on development required)
  • Is comfortable using analytics and product tools such as PostHog and Google Analytics to inform and validate their work
  • Works well within an agile team and is familiar with collaboration tools such as Jira
  • Is able to work collaboratively within a team environment and follow established standard processes
  • Maintains a great attention to detail and thoroughly considers edge cases and accessibility in their work
  • Doesn’t practice “ego driven design” - takes feedback well and lets the evidence lead
Handy things to have (or are able to learn)
  • Experience designing within complex, multi-product ecosystems or consolidating fragmented experiences into a unified one
  • An understanding of design systems and component libraries, and how they keep a growing product consistent
  • Familiarity with the Domain Name and Web Hosting industry (cPanel, WHM, Plesk, etc.)
  • Experience working alongside software engineers in an agile delivery environment
  • Exposure to accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices
  • A working understanding of how front-end code is built, enough to know what’s straightforward and what’s expensive to implement
