Job summary

Blacktown City Council’s Urban Planning and Economic Development team invites you to help plan how the city grows. You will research land use, transport, housing, environmental and community issues, then turn evidence into practical planning advice.

Your week includes preparing reports and recommendations, developing planning strategies, policies and development control plans, plus community consultation. You’ll draft responses to State Government planning initiatives and maintain GIS mapping

Qualifications

• Must hold a degree in planning or a related field.
• Experience in urban planning and understanding NSW planning legislation.
• Ability to communicate complex information, analyse planning issues, and manage projects across Council.

Responsibilities

• Research land use, transport, housing, environmental and community issues.
• Develop planning strategies, policies, environmental planning instruments and DCPs.
• Contribute to community consultation and responses to State Government planning initiatives.
• Prepare reports and recommendations; maintain GIS mapping layers and planning data; advise customers and colleagues.
• Support projects from research through to implementation.

Join Blacktown City Council’s Urban Planning and Economic Development team and help plan how the city grows. You research land use, transport, housing, environmental and community issues, then turn legislation, evidence and stakeholder input into practical planning advice.

Your week includes preparing reports and recommendations, developing planning strategies, policies, environmental planning instruments and development control plans, and contributing to community consultation. You draft responses to State Government planning initiatives, maintain Section 10.7 Planning Certificate data and GIS mapping layers, provide advice to customers and colleagues, and support projects from research through to implementation.

You must hold a degree in planning or a related field, urban planning experience and an understanding of NSW planning legislation. You must communicate complex information clearly, analyse planning issues, manage projects and competing priorities, and work effectively across Council.
