Job summary

Urbis in Brisbane is seeking an Urban Designer to shape places that influence how people live, move and connect. You will work with leading city-shaping thinkers, bringing design ideas to life and providing technical and production support across a diverse portfolio of projects.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Urban Design or related field.
• Up to five years' experience in architecture or urban design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino and 3D modelling.
• Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple projects.
• Collaborative mindset and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Support local and regional Design teams to understand client needs and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Apply creative design thinking and strong production skills from concepts to detailed design.
• Explore emerging industry trends and apply leading urban design approaches.
• Work across sites including precincts, transport, retail and waterfronts.
• Communicate design ideas visually and verbally with clarity and impact.
• Contribute to site analysis, urban frameworks, masterplans and design guidelines.
• Collaborate across disciplines and deliver to briefs, deadlines and budgets.

The Opportunity:

As an Urban Designer in our Brisbane studio, you will help shape places that influence how people live, move and connect. Working alongside leading city-shaping thinkers, you will bring design ideas to life and provide technical and production support across a diverse portfolio of projects.

You will bring creative flair, design rigour and a genuine ambition to achieve world-class urban outcomes. You will work closely with colleagues, clients and project partners, building trusted relationships and helping our Design team deliver exceptional work with commercial discipline.

In this role, you will:

• Support local and regional Design teams to understand client needs and deliver high-quality outcomes
• Apply creative design thinking and strong production skills from early concepts through to detailed design
• Explore emerging industry trends and apply leading urban design approaches
• Work across individual sites, new communities, urban regeneration precincts, transport and infrastructure, retail destinations, waterfronts, commercial hubs and town centres
• Communicate design ideas visually and verbally with clarity, creativity and impact
• Contribute to site analysis, urban frameworks, context studies, yield assessments, masterplans and design guidelines
• Collaborate across disciplines and deliver confidently to briefs, deadlines and budgets

About you:

• Tertiary qualifications in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, or a related field
• Up to five years' experience in an architecture or urban design practice
• Strong design and technical capability, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino and other 3D modelling or rendering software
• Strong capability across Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
• The ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple projects
• A collaborative mindset, confident communication skills and a passion for meaningful city-shaping outcomes
