Job summary

Ampcontrol in Mackay is seeking an Underground Electrician on a 4/3 roster with a maintained company vehicle and ongoing training. You will provide installation, commissioning, maintenance and technical support across underground and surface mining operations for critical electrical equipment.

Key duties include fault finding, inspections and safety-compliant servicing, with collaboration across customers, engineering teams and workshop personnel to deliver reliable solutions and support site

Qualifications

• Electrical trade qualification and licencing to work on electrical equipment.
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, test, install and commission electrical equipment at underground and surface sites.
• Conduct inspections and compliance testing to relevant industry standards.
• Support longwall relocations, conveyor systems and mining equipment.
• Perform fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, testing, auditing, installation and commissioning activities on electrical equipment
• Conduct inspections and compliance testing in accordance with relevant industry standards
• Support longwall relocations, conveyor systems and specialised underground mining equipment
• Complete fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on electrical infrastructure and equipment
• Prepare detailed service reports, test results and job documentation
• Identify customer requirements and provide recommendations for products and services
• Collaborate with customers, engineering teams and workshop personnel to deliver effective solutions
• Promote and maintain safe work practices across all tasks and environments
• Participate in emergency response and call-out support when required

What You'll Bring

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Electrical Trade Qualification (Cert III in Electrotechnology)
• Current Electrical Licence
• Current Driver Licence
• High Voltage Switching experience or qualifications
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Well-developed fault finding and problem-solving skills

Highly Regarded

• Underground mining experience
• Longwall system experience
• Experience with relay, circuit breaker and transformer testing
• Working at Heights certification
• Forklift, EWP or MR Truck Licence
• AS/NZS 3800 and AS 2290 knowledge and experience
