Job summary

New Porgera Limited (NPL) is seeking a skilled Cablebolt Operator for our underground team at Porgera. You will ensure the quality and quantity of cable bolting while adhering to safety and operational standards.

The role requires demonstrated experience as a cable bolter in underground mining, hands-on operation of Sandvik DS422i equipment, and the ability to read mine plans. FIFO from PNG, Australia or NZ with a 28/28 roster; competitive remuneration.

• Work according to mine plans with accuracy and efficiency.

New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. NPL is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation, Zijin Mining, and the Papua New Guinea Government, combining global mining expertise with a shared commitment to responsible resource development and long-term value creation for Papua New Guinea.

The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production and, over its 30-year operating history, has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea's total annual exports, making it one of the country's most significant economic assets.

Are you ready to be a part of a dynamic team committed to excellence in the mining industry? We are looking for a skilled and motivated Cablebolt Operator to join our Underground team. As a Cablebolt Operator, you will play a crucial role in our operations by ensuring the quality and quantity of cable bolting while adhering to safety and operational standards.

Key Deliverables for This Position:

Commission Porgera's first Sandvik DS422i Cablebolter

Provide valuable feedback and innovative solutions to address any issues, ensuring the planned cable bolting quality and quantities are met

Drill, grout, and expertly install cables up to 18 meters in length

Execute tasks according to mine plans, ensuring efficiency and accuracy

Train both national and expatriate operators in the operation and maintenance of the Sandvik DS422i Cablebolter

The ideal candidate will have:

Demonstrated experience working as a cable bolter operator in underground mining operations

Proven track record of successfully completing cable bolting tasks with efficiency and accuracy

Extensive experience as a cable bolter operator, particularly with Sandvik DS422i equipment

Proficient in operating drilling equipment and other specialized machinery used for cable bolting

Ability to read and interpret mine plans, engineering drawings, and technical specifications related to cable bolting

Ability to work autonomously, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills

Disciplined in adherence to company policies, corporate governance, and controls

Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders
