Banana Shire Council is seeking a Full-time Treatment Plant Operator to join our team in Biloela, QLD. As the Treatment Plant Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of our water and wastewater treatment facilities, contributing to the overall health and well-being of our local community.

What you’ll be doing

• Monitoring and maintaining the performance of water and wastewater treatment plants, including chemical dosing, equipment inspections, and general housekeeping
• Conducting regular sampling and testing to ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and standards
• Troubleshooting any issues or malfunctions that may arise and taking appropriate corrective actions
• Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on treatment plant equipment and infrastructure
• Maintaining detailed records and reports on plant operations, process data, and any incidents or issues
• Collaborating with the wider operations team to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities

What we’re looking for

• Current class ‘C’ driver licence is required for this position
• Relevant qualifications in water/wastewater treatment or a related field, such as a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations
• Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of water and/or wastewater treatment plants
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues
• Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills
• A commitment to workplace health and safety and environmental sustainability
• A positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
