Job summary

Bravehearts invites an experienced clinician to provide specialist counselling and trauma-informed care to children and young people in Mackay region. You will conduct assessments, prepare professional reports, and maintain clinical records, while collaborating with families and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

The role includes fortnightly overnight outreach to Isaac and Whitsunday regions. A current Blue Card and National Police Check are required, with relocation support available

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work or counselling.
• At least two years’ experience providing counselling, preferably trauma-informed.
• Experience with boys aged 14–16 who have experienced sexual/physical harm or family violence.
• Understanding of trauma impact on children and families.
• Experience undertaking assessment, therapeutic intervention, case management and reporting.
• Knowledge of child protection legislation and mandatory reporting requirements.
• Ability to build trusting, respectful therapeutic relationships with children and families.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and collaboration with professionals.
• Commitment to socially and culturally inclusive practice.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body.
• Current or willingness to obtain Blue Card and National Police Certificate.
• Willingness to undertake fortnightly overnight outreach to Isaac and Whitsunday regions.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist counselling and therapeutic intervention through face-to-face, telephone and online sessions.
• Undertake psychological and other assessments and prepare professional reports; maintain high-quality clinical records.
• Collaborate with children, families, colleagues and other professionals to support positive outcomes.
• Deliver fortnightly overnight outreach to the Isaac and Whitsunday regions.
