Job summary

Arup on the Gold Coast is seeking a Transport Planning professional to contribute to transport analysis, design and solutions for development and infrastructure projects. You will engage in area-wide demand analysis through to detailed demand and operational assessments for roads and transport systems.

The role requires 4+ years in transport engineering with knowledge of SIDRA, Aimsun or Vissim, and strong communication skills, with opportunities across Queensland and broader networks.

Qualifications

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as engineering, transport, town planning, mathematics or economics.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ relevant industry experience in Transport Engineering.
  • Strong foundation in transport engineering principles, including road safety and/or traffic impact assessment experience.
  • Knowledge of transport planning and engineering specialist areas with awareness of major transport issues.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, presentation, organisation and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support significant and complex projects, and lead smaller projects where appropriate, while contributing to multiple concurrent project teams.
  • Help develop work programmes, prepare proposals, set budgets, manage deliverables and support the commercial imperatives of projects.
  • Provide timely, high-quality technical advice to internal project teams and clients, responding professionally to client requirements.
  • Support quality outcomes by setting standards, defining quality expectations, ensuring checks are undertaken and following Arup’s Management System processes.
  • Build strong relationships with engineers, planners and transport planning colleagues across Queensland and the wider region.

The Opportunity

In this role, as part of the Transport Planning Team, you will contribute to transport analysis, design and solutions for development and infrastructure projects, from area-wide transport demand analysis through to detailed demand and operational assessments for development, road and transport infrastructure projects.

Is this right for you?


  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as engineering, transport, town planning, mathematics or economics.

  • Minimum of 4 years’ relevant industry experience in Transport Engineering, preferably within a consulting business environment

  • Strong foundation in transport engineering principles, including road safety and/or traffic impact assessment experience, with experience in operational transport modelling packages such as SIDRA, Aimsun and Vissim desirable

  • Knowledge of transport planning and engineering specialist areas, with awareness of major transport issues and emerging priorities – bus planning experience desirable

  • Excellent communication, report writing, presentation, organisation and time management skills, with a collaborative approach and alignment to Arup’s values and purpose to Shape a Better World
