Job summary

Hydro Tasmania is offering a structured Trainee Power Station Operator program on Flinders Island to train as an Operator Maintainer. You’ll begin as a Trainee and progress to a fully qualified Operator Maintainer, gaining hands-on experience powering Tasmania’s island community.

The role includes significant on-site training, with relocation support and clear milestones. You will operate and maintain large renewable assets and participate in a 24/7 roster, with generous leave and development

Qualifications

Qualified mechanical or electrical tradesperson with certs.
Experience in industrial or production environments.
Ability to follow operating procedures and permit systems.
Strong fault-finding skills for abnormal plant conditions.
Current driver’s licence, reporting skills and safety focus.

Responsibilities

Deliver construction, maintenance, commissioning and fault response activities across electrical plant and infrastructure.
Operate, maintain and monitor HV and LV electrical plant, switchyards and auxiliaries.
