Job summary

CAF Rail Australia invites applications for a Train Assembly Technician (Electrical or Mechanical) based in Dubbo. You will join the Mindyarra Maintenance Centre, reporting to the Train Assembly Team Leader, and contribute to vehicle assembly and component fitting across production stages.

The role requires hands-on assembly on the production line, safe work practices, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet quality and schedule targets.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience in similar or related roles.
• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical field or equivalent workplace experience across related industries.
• Experience using MS Office (Excel/Word).

Responsibilities

• Follow specifications and assemble components on the production line using a range of tools and equipment.
• Support quality, productivity and lean production initiatives and participate in process improvements.
• Record and report faults, and perform quality checks to meet safety and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and keep equipment in good condition per maintenance plans.
• Troubleshoot and solve problems as part of a team delivering continuous improvement.
• Train and mentor others on processes and job role requirements.

Train Assembly Technician – Mechanical or Electrical - CAF Rail Australia - Dubbo Trust in Motion.

We are currently seeking a Train Assembly Technician - Electrical or Mechanical that will be directly reporting to the Train Assembly Team Leader within the Mindyarra Maintenance Centre based in Dubbo. The role is responsible for vehicle assembly and fitting components in various stages of assembly on the production line.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follows specifications and other appropriate instructions and/or procedures to accurately assemble components on the production line using a variety of tools and equipment. This will include, but is not limited to, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, and fitting safety critical parts.
• Support quality, productivity and process improvement initiatives. Carry out lean production activities.
• Record and report faults to relevant areas of production. Perform work quality checks to ensure product meets quality and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, well-organised safe work area which adheres to Company housekeeping processes.
• Maintain all equipment according to maintenance plans and procedures.
• Carry out problem solving and troubleshooting techniques as part of a team responsible for realising continuous improvement to products and processes. Leads the team that performs a wide variety of assembly tasks involving the use of a variety of machinery and hand tools on the production line.
• Undertake training relevant to the role and across teams to provide resource/skills and supports/ works in other areas as may be necessary.
• Train and act as a mentor to others on process and job role requirements.
• Adhere to all risk assessment and Health & Safety regulations.
• Ensure all records (manual and digital) are completed correctly and on time.
• Carry out routine daily maintenance and safety checks.
• Pro-actively seek out process improvements and efficiency savings, recommending to line manager where improvements can be made, or costs reduced.

PROFILE

• Have at least 2 years’ experience in similar or related roles.
• Possess a tertiary qualification relevant to the position, such as certified accreditation on Mechanical or Electrical field; or workplace experience in relevant industries such as: Engineering, Automotive, Rail Construction, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Electrical/Electronics, Construction, Civil construction.
• Experience with office management software e.g. MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, specifically).
