Job summary

Moorabool Shire Council is seeking a Traffic and Design Engineer to work across traffic, transport, road safety and civil infrastructure, taking projects and investigations from initial assessment and design through to construction support and delivery.

You’ll contribute to traffic and road safety solutions, prepare civil designs, assess traffic management, heavy vehicle access matters and provide practical engineering advice that directly supports Council and the community.

Qualifications

• Experience across traffic engineering, road safety and transport planning.
• Ability to translate technical requirements into practical designs.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards and Austroads is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic engineering designs from initial assessment to construction support.
• Assess traffic management and heavy vehicle access matters.
• Provide practical engineering advice to Council and the community.
• Collaborate with stakeholders including consultants and government agencies.

The Role

As our Traffic and Design Engineer, you’ll work across traffic, transport, road safety and civil infrastructure, taking projects and investigations from initial assessment and design through to construction support and delivery. You’ll contribute to traffic and road safety solutions, prepare civil designs, assess traffic management, heavy vehicle access matters and provide practical engineering advice that directly supports Council and the community.

About You

You bring experience across traffic engineering, road safety, transport planning and/or civil infrastructure design, with the ability to analyse information, investigate issues and translate technical requirements into fit-for-purpose solutions.

You’ll be comfortable managing competing priorities, communicating technical advice to both technical and non-technical audiences, and working collaboratively with community members, consultants, contractors, government agencies and internal stakeholders. Experience with AutoCAD and preferably Civil Site Design, together with knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, Austroads Guides and infrastructure design requirements, will support your success in the role.
