Key Responsibilities

  • Actively engage in electricity and environmental market trading, including both standard and bespoke structured products.
  • Oversee and refine the spot‑bidding strategy for the renewable fleet and the NEM’s first 8‑hour BESS, including oversight of relevant Auto‑bidder contracts.
  • Provide clear commercial insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders, including market trends, revenue forecasts, and optimisation strategies.
  • Support the commercial assessment of development projects through market insights and operational assumptions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesale counterparties and across RWE’s global teams.
  • Confidently present complex market information to a wide range of audiences.
Job requirements and experience

  • Derivative trading experience in the Australian NEM (National Electricity Market), with AFMA accreditation viewed positively.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with experience in financial modelling and commercial evaluation.
  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python, SQL, VBA) is highly regarded.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
