Downer is seeking a Telecommunications Designer for our Power Projects Team in Adelaide. The role involves delivering telecommunications designs, coordinating design activities and deadlines, supporting team deliverables, and providing on-site commissioning expertise as required.

Candidates should have at least 3 years in power utility Telco design, a relevant engineering degree, and strong CAD skills (MicroStation, AutoCAD).

Qualifications

• 3+ years in power utility project delivery with Telco design experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline is advantageous.
• Proficient CAD skills including MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Experience preparing Telco Design Work packs for Construction Teams.
• Knowledge of Telco engineering principles and network topologies.
• Experience with Aviat, Ceragon MWRs, Palo Alto Firewalls, Nokia IP/MPLS & WDM systems.
• Understanding of Fibre Optic networks and FO system design requirements.
• Knowledge of Teleprotection for HV power lines.
• Familiarity with applicable standards, compliance and safety requirements.
• Experience with 48VDC power supply design and load calculations is advantageous.
• Experience in Power Utilities or OT environments is advantageous.
• Ability to build relationships with teams, clients and stakeholders.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Telecommunications Designer to join our Power Projects Team in Adelaide. Working closely with Engineers, the role will deliver Telecommunications designs, coordinate design activities and deadlines, support team deliverables, and provide on-site commissioning expertise as required.

We are seeking someone with

• Minimum 3 years' project delivery experience in the Power Utility Industry, with demonstrated Telco design experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a relevant discipline, is advantageous.
• Proficiency in CAD packages, including MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Experience preparing and delivering Telco Design Work packs for Construction Teams.
• Sound knowledge of Telecommunications Engineering principles and Telco network topologies.
• Strong experience with Aviat and Ceragon Microwave Radio (MWR) systems, Palo Alto Firewalls, and Nokia IP/MPLS & WDM systems.
• Good understanding of Fibre Optic infrastructure networks and FO systems design requirements.
• Good understanding of Teleprotection System Philosophy for HV power line applications.
• Sound knowledge of relevant technical and industry standards, compliance, and safety requirements.
• Knowledge of 48VDC Power Supply System load calculations and design is advantageous.
• Experience within Power Utilities or similar Operational Technology environments is advantageous.
• Ability to build effective relationships with internal teams, clients, stakeholders, and external parties.
