Job summary

BHP is seeking a Technology Supervisor to join the Port Hedland team in the Pilbara region. The role oversees maintenance and performance of OT systems supporting mining and rail operations, leading a team of technicians and contractors on site. FIFO or residential arrangements apply.

You will drive safety-first culture, collaborate with stakeholders, and deliver reliability improvements through technology solutions in a dynamic, industrial setting.

Qualifications

  • Section 26 Statutory Supervisor qualification under WA Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in mining, infrastructure, telecommunications, technology, processing, or related operational environments.
  • Experience supporting critical technology and communications systems within a mining, industrial, or operational setting.
  • Knowledge of operational technology (OT), communications infrastructure, and technology asset management.
  • Proven ability to lead a team through a safety-first culture while driving reliability, productivity and continuous improvement.
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence.
  • Trade Qualification, Diploma, or Degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electronics, or related discipline is highly regarded.
  • Strong alignment with BOS disciplines: Continuous Improvement, Leader Standard Work, Visual Management, Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis, Work Management and Planning, and data-driven Performance Management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of technology technicians and contractors, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain, reliability, and performance of OT systems including networks, automation, control, CCTV, and access infrastructure.
  • Drive safety culture and ensure compliance with health, safety, environment and risk management requirements.
  • Plan and prioritise maintenance to minimise downtime and maximise asset performance.
  • Monitor system performance, analyse data, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with operational stakeholders, technology teams, vendors, and service providers.
  • Coach and develop team capability; manage performance and succession planning.
  • Ensure work management processes, documentation, and reporting are accurate and timely.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Technology Supervisor to join our team in Port Hedland.

In this leadership role, you will oversee the maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of operational technology systems that support our mining and rail operations. Working closely with site stakeholders, contractors, and technical teams, you will lead a skilled workforce to ensure technology assets are maintained safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

You will play a key role in driving performance, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, and leveraging technology solutions to enhance operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and supervise a team of technology technicians and contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with BHP standards.
  • Manage the maintenance, reliability, and performance of operational technology (OT) systems, including communications networks, automation systems, control systems, CCTV, access control, and associated infrastructure.
  • Drive a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with health, safety, environment, and risk management requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and prioritise maintenance activities to minimise operational downtime and maximise asset performance.
  • Monitor system performance, analyse data and trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with operational stakeholders, technology teams, vendors, and service providers.
  • Manage team performance through coaching, mentoring, capability development, and succession planning.
  • Ensure work management processes, documentation, and reporting requirements are maintained accurately and completed in a timely manner.
About You

You are a safety-focused leader with a passion for technology, operational excellence, and developing high-performing teams. You bring strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, coupled with the ability to drive continuous improvement and deliver results in a dynamic operational environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
