Job summary

Aurizon, Australias largest rail freight operator, seeks an experienced Technical Trainer focused on Safeworking to support development, delivery and continuous improvement of operations training across the business.

In this role you will lead safeworking training development, delivery and assessment, ensuring learning aligns with regulatory requirements, competency standards and industry benchmarks to promote safety, accountability and performance.

Qualifications

  • Must-have qualifications and experience in delivering technical safeworking training.
  • Experience in developing and assessing training content to enterprise standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the facilitation and assessment of safeworking operations to achieve competency standards and performance outcomes.
  • Develop, optimise and deliver training programs aligned with enterprise frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and implement new training strategies with opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Provide expert advice on training and assessment practices with stakeholders.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and evaluations, translating insights into updated learning content.
  • Deliver engaging training tailored to diverse audiences, experience levels, and learning styles.
  • Support training efficiency, compliance and quality outcomes in line with safety priorities.
  • Maintain current qualifications and continually develop facilitation and training expertise.

Technical Trainer - Focus on Safeworking Below Rail

Location: Adelaide/flexible

We are seeking an experienced Technical Trainer with a focus on Safeworking to support the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of operations training across the business.

This role plays a critical part in enabling workforce capability through high-quality training solutions that align to enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and evolving operational needs.

About the role:

As a Technical Trainer, you will have a strong focus on Safeworking, leading the development, delivery and assessment of technical safeworking training that strengthens understanding of rules, reinforces safe work practices and supports consistent operational performance. You'll work closely with leaders and subject matter experts to ensure learning programs are clear, practical and aligned to defined competency standards, performance expectations and industry benchmarks, contributing to a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.

This role will see you:

  • Lead the facilitation and assessment of safeworking operations to achieve competency standards and performance outcomes
  • Support the development, optimisation, and delivery of training programs aligned with enterprise frameworks and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new training strategies, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement
  • Partner with leaders and stakeholders to provide expert advice on training and assessment practices
  • Conduct training needs analysis and evaluations, translating insights into updated and improved learning content
  • Deliver engaging training tailored to a variety of audiences, experience levels, and learning styles
  • Support strategic initiatives to enhance training efficiency, compliance, and quality outcomes
  • Maintain current qualifications (where practicable) and continuously develop facilitation and training expertise
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships to stay aligned with safety, operational and learning priorities
About you:
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent)
  • Certificate IV in Network Control (or equivalent)
  • Trade qualification (desirable)
  • Skilled facilitator with strong technical expertise and a practical, hands-on approach to training.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring capability to support capability uplift and continuous improvement.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of training content and packages
  • Strong industry, safeworking and operational experience within a relevant discipline
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
  • Strong organisational skills with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Advanced problem-solving, decision-making, and training content development capability
