Job summary

Saab Australia is seeking a Technical Publications Team Lead to lead and grow the Technical Publications team within the Naval Combat Systems ILS Unit. The role involves planning, directing and mentoring to deliver high-quality documentation for complex software-intensive systems.

Applicants should have extensive technical writing experience, strong English language skills and experience with S1000D and FrameMaker. Flexible hybrid work arrangements and a 9-day fortnight may be considered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum eight years of Technical Writing experience in manufacturing, technology, engineering, electrical or Defence industries.
  • Extensive experience in developing technical and operator manuals for software intensive systems.
  • Excellent command of the English language in written form.
  • Experience with S1000D publication development.
  • Experience with developing and editing large and/or complex documents to an advanced level in Microsoft Word and/or Adobe FrameMaker.
  • Broad experience with Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience methodologies for the development of documentation for hardware and software products.

The role

As part of our System Delivery Group, group, the Technical Publications Team Lead will be responsible for leading, maintaining and growing the Technical Publication team capability within the Naval Combat Systems (NCS) ILS Team.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Estimate, plan and support the execution of project deliveries
  • Maintain team capability to enable development and delivery of Technical Publications to the customer
  • Provide clear direction, task prioritisation and management support to the Technical Publication Team
  • Manage project scope, coordinate resources and allocate tasks to the Technical Publication Team
  • Support the S1000D capability and associated toolsets
  • Undertake Control Account and Work Package Management for the Technical Publication activities
  • Provide mentoring, training and guidance to develop the members of the team

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About You

Your skills and experience will include:

Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
