Statewide Clinical Support Services (SCSS) is recruiting a Technical Officer for Bacteriology at SA Pathology – Royal Adelaide Hospital. The role supports a 24-hour diagnostic service with routine and complex testing, delivering accurate results to inform patient care.

You will verify results, apply technical judgement, and collaborate with cross-functional teams while mentoring staff and contributing to technical projects.

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised Diploma, Advanced Diploma or equivalent.
• Bring recent experience across Bacteriology laboratory operations.
• Apply technical accuracy, prioritise workloads and solve problems.

About the Role

Join SA Pathology as a Technical Officer in Bacteriology and use your technical expertise to support a vital 24-hour diagnostic service. You’ll perform routine and complex testing, apply technical judgement, verify results and help deliver accurate, timely information that supports quality patient care.

Working across a range of Bacteriology functions, you’ll collaborate closely with scientific, technical and medical teams to resolve specimen and testing queries and maintain efficient laboratory services. You’ll also support and train developing staff, contribute to technical projects and provide advice on equipment, procedures, processes and results.

About You

Bring your technical expertise, accuracy and problem-solving skills to a fast-paced diagnostic laboratory. To be successful in this role you will:
