Defence Housing Australia (DHA) is seeking an experienced Technical Construction Officer to join the THUD Team. You will contribute technical leadership across residential construction, upgrades and heritage projects, working with Project Managers to ensure high-quality housing outcomes.

Key duties include identifying builder defects, delivering expert advice to regional offices, and supporting DHA’s acquisition and leasing programs.

Qualifications

• Experience as Technical Construction Officer or similar role in residential projects.
• Valid Driver Licence and White Card.
• Baseline Vetting security clearance eligibility.
• Ability to work across multiple locations nationally.

Level: DHA6
Salary Range: $104,793 to $120,411 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation
Location: Townsville, Parramatta or Darwin

DHA was established in 1988 following passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide adequate and suitable housing for, and housing related services to, members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. We remain committed to our purpose of providing housing, and housing related services, to ADF members and their families to support Defence’s operational needs.

DHA manages an expanding portfolio of housing solutions and provides housing for over 17,200 ADF members and their families and administers rent allowance for more than 16,000 ADF members and their families in private rental accommodation. DHA provides housing related services advising on eligibility, providing posting support, and managing bookings and allocation services for all DHA provisioned housing and on-base accommodation to approximately 60,000 ADF members.

About your team

As part of the Service Delivery team, Asset Management function, you will help your broader team meet their delivery objectives for high-quality housing services, including maintenance services, stock management, and contractor performance.

The Asset Management function is responsible for the delivery of construction, maintenance, upgrades and heritage programs. As a member the Technical, Heritage, Upgrades & Defects (THUD) Team, you will provide technical support to the Asset Management function and other DHA staff.

About the role

As a Technical Construction Officer, you’ll bring your building expertise to a diverse range of residential projects across Australia. Working closely with Project Managers, you’ll provide specialist technical advice across construction, upgrades and heritage projects, while also supporting DHA’s acquisition and leasing programs.

You’ll play an important role in identifying and managing builder defects and providing practical, expert advice to Regional Office teams on complex building and maintenance matters.
