About the project

Join a transformative infrastructure program shaping Queensland’s future.

The Wave is a major transport initiative set to transform connectivity from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast. Delivering new heavy rail from Beerwah to Birtinya and an express metro‑style service through Maroochydore to the Sunshine Coast Airport, this project will reduce travel times, ease congestion, and improve regional connections, leaving a lasting legacy for the 2032 Olympic Games and beyond. With a focus on safety, innovation, cutting‑edge design and rapid delivery, The Wave isn’t just building tracks, it’s building a brighter future for connecting communities.

Working within Queensland Rail’s Major Project, Engineering, and Rail Safety business group, specifically on the new WAVE project. The Technical Assurance Manager role will see you joining the Systems and Integration team. You will have a strong background in technical systems and safety assurance delivery, demonstrable experience in the delivery of complex multi‑discipline projects, with the ability to build excellent working relationships with stakeholders.

Purpose That Counts - You can expect some of your responsibilities to include:
  • Provide the externally delivered projects under your review with clear direction as to delivery alignment with Queensland Rail Standards
  • Plan and determine the compliance status of delivery progress at key milestones across multiple projects
  • Lead the planned assessment of project‑delivered assurance artefacts to Queensland Rail
  • Represent findings, and issues to provide recommended corrective action at senior governance forums
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the business can accept safe and fit‑for‑purpose assets

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in system engineering, system safety, risk management, assurance and governance principles
  • High level of skill in engaging a large range of stakeholders
  • High level of leadership, strategic thinking, and management skills
  • Extensive knowledge of rail systems and safety case development would be highly favourable
