A digital technology company is seeking a Tech Lead/Principal Engineer in Melbourne for a 6-month hybrid contract. Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience in technical leadership.

Overview

Tech Lead/Principal Engineer - Typescript/Node/React/AWS – Contract (hybrid: Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne). 6 month contract. Hands-on role guiding architecture, shaping technical direction, and mentoring the team while coding daily. Stack: TypeScript end-to-end, React on the front end, Node on the back end, running on AWS.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on technical leadership: guide teams, shape solutions, and stay actively involved in coding.
• Deliver ambitious projects at pace by combining leadership influence with hands-on development.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and technical direction for the product roadmap.
• Mentor team members and promote best practices in code quality, testing, and secure coding.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience in technical leadership, guiding teams and shaping solutions while staying actively involved in coding.
• Full-stack software engineering expertise, building and maintaining large-scale software products from concept to production.
• Must have experience in our DXP tech stack - Typescript, React, Node, AWS.
• Strong understanding of testing principles and demonstrated experience in implementing testing strategies to improve software quality and robustness.
• Experience with Agile or other iterative development methodologies (Scrum preferred, Kanban in some teams).
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices, particularly OWASP standards.

Nice to have

• Understanding of Content Management Systems (CMS) and/or Digital Experience Platforms (DXP).
• Interest in AI solutions, Search or Vector databases.
