Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate cultural capability and commitment to inclusive culture aligned with the Human Rights Act 2019.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team, applying sound judgment to direct remedial action as required.
  • Provide leadership and coordination to identify and respond to gaps in services, including coordination with government and non-government agencies for Victim Assist services state-wide.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to create opportunities and improvements in Victim Assist delivery.
  • Foster a trauma-informed organizational culture and collaboration across staff and agencies.
  • Develop and implement frameworks to support regional staff, prioritising wellbeing and effective communication.
  • Oversee Financial, Human Resource and Performance management, including workforce planning and supervision.

Job description

Queensland Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support – Cairns QLD
  • Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Leads a multi-disciplinary team to achieve desired operational outcomes, using sound judgment and initiating and directing remedial action as required.
  • Provide authoritative analysis and advice on complex operational process and policy issues relating to regional and remote service delivery in accordance with the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
  • Provide leadership and coordination to assist in identifying and responding to gaps in services and coordination between government and non-government agencies, including a focus on the delivery of services state-wide to Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islanders victims.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including other departmental business units and the non-government sector, to create opportunities and improvements ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of Victim Assist services.
  • Lead and motivates an organisational culture that values a trauma-informed approach, internal and inter-agency collaboration, innovative performance and positive contributions that staff bring to Victim Assist and clients.
  • Develop and implement a framework to support regional staff, driving initiatives that prioritise staff wellbeing, foster effective communication and strengthen connection across the regions.
  • Undertake Financial, Human Resource and Performance management activities including establishment management, workforce and succession planning, coaching, mentoring and staff supervision.
