Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC in Melbourne is seeking a capable leader to head a Tobacco Licensing Victoria (TLV) compliance team. You will guide staff, oversee inspections and investigations to ensure Victorian tobacco laws are followed, and drive improvements in processes.

The role is fixed-term until 30 June 2028, full-time with salary range $116,413–$140,849 plus super. You will collaborate with police, councils and other agencies to keep tobacco sales fair and lawful.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Government Investigations or relevant tertiary qualification.
• Strong experience leading compliance work or investigations.
• Victoria driver licence or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead a skilled team, plan work and track results.
• Guide inspections and investigations, including complex cases and search warrants.
• Check evidence and reports to support legal action against breaches.
• Build strong working ties with police, councils and other government agencies.
• Improve work processes, manage risks and help staff growth.
