Position Information

Wiangaree Public School has current enrolment of 15 students. It is a rural school located on the Far North Coast, 15 km north of Kyogle.

Specific Selection Criteria

• In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.


• Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching, with proven ability to successfully fulfil the responsibilities of a teaching principal in a small rural school, including delivering high-quality teaching in a multi-stage classroom while making ethical, operational and contextual decisions that meet the individual and collective needs of students in accordance with departmental legislation, policies and procedures.


• Demonstrated outstanding instructional leadership to drive student growth and achievement in literacy and numeracy through explicit teaching, evidence-based strategies, deep knowledge of students and curriculum, and high expectations for all learners.


• A highly visible and approachable leader who can develop and implement strategic initiatives that build on the strengths of Wiangaree Public School while leading a shared vision for continuous improvement, innovation and student success.


• Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with the school and broader community to preserve and strengthen the personalised, student-centred culture of Wiangaree Public School ensuring every child is known, valued and supported according to their individual strengths, needs and circumstances.

General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is principal level for 2016 and also for 2017.

Salary and Hours

Total Remuneration Package: The total remuneration package will be $168,946.00. This classification attracts a base salary of $149,059.00.
