Job description

We are seeking to establish a pool of Primary Teachers Years 3-6 for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Note: This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A mandatory CV template is provided for use. Application requirements include character limited responses to address only 2 Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) domains at application stage. The remaining AITSL domain will be assessed as part of the further assessment stage, for shortlisted applicants only.

The Role

We are actively seeking primary teachers with exceptional interpersonal skills, displaying a natural ability to communicate effectively and build strong, authentic relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the wider community. As a Years 3 to 6 primary teacher, you would promptly establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment, setting high expectations and cultivating a growth mindset, while nurturing students' social and emotional development.

Suitable applicants will ideally display a high level of professional skill, driven by a strong commitment to high-performance teaching and learning. Key attributes of being collaborative, flexible, and a proactive team member with strong problem-solving abilities are highly regarded. A conscientious and diligent approach to the role is essential and the ability to plan and teach in a collaborative environment with highly developed competencies in differentiating the curriculum. The role will involve working closely with colleagues to provide engaging and high-quality learning experiences for primary students.

Experience with, and implementation of evidence-based programs, including the effective use of daily reviews in literacy and numeracy, is highly regarded. Knowledge of cognitive science, science of reading and explicit instruction will be considered a strong advantage, coupled with commitment to the integration of Teaching for Impact principles to ensure every student experiences success.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.

• Note that south west teachers are not eligible to move to another south west school under this trial.
