Job summary

Launceston Christian School in Tasmania invites applications for a Teacher Trainee starting January 2027. Trainees are employed part-time, work with a mentor, and undertake an accredited ITE course through Alphacrucis University College to become a registered teacher with the school.

Applicants must be practicing Christians, actively involved in their local church, and eligible for full-time study with Alphacrucis. WWVP clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be practicing Christians and actively involved in their local church.
• Must be eligible to undertake full-time study with Alphacrucis University College and pursue Primary or Secondary teacher training.
• Registered with a current Working With Vulnerable People (Employment) Card.

Responsibilities

• Undertake progressive duties under a mentor teacher to build practice skills during training.
• Join a part-time trainee program and participate in the ITE course pathways.
• Commence employment as a registered teacher upon course completion.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Teacher Trainee to join our school community in January 2027.

Our teacher trainee model is unique and different from the standard pathway to teaching:

• Teacher Trainees undertake their role with a view to complete an accredited initial teacher education (ITE) course through Alphacrucis University College and to enter employment with Launceston Christian School as a registered teacher upon course completion.
• Teacher Trainees are employed part-time at our school and work alongside a mentor teacher for each year of their employment/training and will undertake progressive duties over this period to build their practice skills in preparation for graduate teaching proficiency.
• On successful graduation and ongoing employment at the school, a significant contribution towards course fees is offered.

Applicants will need to be:

• Practicing Christians, actively involved in their local church and able to subscribe to the School’s Mission Statement and Educational Creed
• Eligible to undertake full-time study with Alphacrucis. Pathways are available for both Primary and Secondary teacher training.
• Registered with a current Working With Vulnerable People (Employment) Card
